Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions we hear most. Still stuck? There’s a link to send feedback at the bottom of the help index.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can play any shared game as a guest — your progress is saved on your device. An account keeps your library across devices and lets you build games. See accounts & sharing.

Is it free?

Playing and building are free while Latchkey is in its early days. If paid features arrive later, we’ll be clear about what changes.

My photo lock won’t open — what am I doing wrong?

Photo matching is almost always a framing or lighting issue, not a wrong answer. Fill the frame, light the objects evenly and from the front, and shoot straight on. The how to play guide has the full photo checklist. Building one yourself? Read photo locks that work first time before you shoot the key image.

Can I reset my progress on a game?

Yes — reach for the game’s options in Play to start it over. As a guest, progress is per device, so a different browser starts fresh.

Is my data private?

Private games are visible only to you until you change their visibility. We never show your email on public pages — only the display name and handle you choose.

How do I report a game or a problem?

Use the feedback link on the help index. For anything unsafe or against the rules, flag it and we’ll take a look.

Still stuck?

Try the help index search, or read the worked example to see a lock built end to end.
