Welcome to Latchkey. By using Latchkey you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. Latchkey is a platform for building and playing real-world and digital puzzle games.

Who can use Latchkey

You must be at least 13 to use Latchkey. If you're under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is okay with you using it — especially for real-world puzzles that involve moving around a physical space. You're responsible for keeping your account secure.

Your content

You keep ownership of the games, locks, images, and other content you create. By publishing or sharing content, you grant Latchkey a non-exclusive licence to host, store, display, and distribute it as needed to run the service and honour your visibility settings (private, unlisted, or public). You're responsible for having the rights to everything you upload, and for making sure it follows our Content Policy.

Tokens & the asset library

Latchkey has a virtual currency ("tokens") used to acquire assets other creators have shared in the asset library. Tokens are play money: we grant them (for example, when you sign up), they have no cash value, they can't be bought with or exchanged for real money, and they can't be transferred between accounts. We may adjust token grants, prices, and balances to keep the economy working. Acquiring an asset spends tokens and gives you an ongoing entitlement to use that asset in your own locks and games — the asset itself stays owned by its creator. By listing an asset in the library, you allow other creators to acquire it and use it in their games on these terms; published games keep the asset versions they shipped with.

External locks & third-party experiences

Some locks hand you over to an experience the creator hosts on their own service, shown in a sandboxed frame or reached through a link that names the destination first. Those experiences are the creator's responsibility and may have their own terms; Latchkey passes the creator's service only an opaque play ticket and the lock's id — never your account details. We may disable an external lock or its service binding at any time.

Acceptable use

Don't use Latchkey to break the law, infringe others' rights, or post content that violates our Content Policy. Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service or other users.

Playing games

Most games on Latchkey are made by our community of creators; we publish some ourselves, too. Either way, play at your own discretion. Real-world puzzles may ask you to move around a physical space — your safety and your surroundings are your responsibility.

Availability & changes

Latchkey is a personal project offered on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of the service.

Ending your use

You can stop using Latchkey and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or remove accounts or content that violate these terms or the Content Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above; continued use means you accept the revised terms.
