Matching mat

Plain backdrops — objects on a bare white table — give the camera almost nothing to lock onto, so players’ photos won’t line up with your key image. Print this textured sheet, arrange your objects inside the frame, and shoot straight down. The dense, never-repeating pattern gives the matcher a rich, consistent backdrop, which also steadies scale and angle between shots.

  1. Print at 100% scale (no “fit to page” shrinking) on any paper you have.
  2. Lay it flat and place your objects within the corner marks.
  3. Photograph it straight down, filling the frame — then use that photo as your key image. Ask players to shoot the same way.
